Having been invited by Coca-Cola Spain, by
Afro Antwerpens Kunstenforum in Antwerp as part of operation Boulevard
Amandla, by journalists in France, by Roberta Bonetti (anthropologist
in the University of Bologna in Italy), Eric Adjetey Anang spent
five weeks in Europe from August 17th till September 22nd, 2009.
He dreamed about such trip, and this one was the long-lived concrete
expression of hard work, patience and determination.
He
dreamed about such trip, and this one was the long-lived concrete

I landed in Accra on August 13th, Eric had to take off three hours
afterwards. If not the disorganization of Royal Air Morocco in
summer period, we would have been able toor the best to meet one
half an hour in the airport. The chérifienne company outright
cancelled the flight Accra - Casablanca envisaged this day, on
which Eric had to board to join Madrid then. The reasons of this
incident remain mysterious, a strike of the pilots having been
in the recalled without more precision. An alternative was offered
to the passengers, with a departure three days afterwards. This
time was the good but not the end of difficulties: let us forget
the delay of four hours in takeoff arrived at Casablanca, the
correspondence with Madrid proved to be impossible. The passengers
who needed a visa to go out of the airport of which Eric was part,
had no other option than to wait more of 24 hours in the foyer
of the Mohamed V airport before finally were are allocated to
them in a plane for Madrid.
The three days which we could cross together before his departure
allowed us to have long dialogues on the workshop, the ongoing
plans among which the realization of the present website, Ghana
and Africa, Europe, future. It is in this opportunity that appeared
the idea of telling the history of different persons intervening
in the life of the Kane Kwei workshop. Cedi and Eric spoke about
it with the apprentices who agreed to meet me and to speak freely.
Most of those stories are presently being translated into English.
The one that you will read is the story of Eric, that was collected
in October 2009 after he came back from Europe.
